The much hyped and speculated 3 TV sets have already been here for some time now. After they were launched at the IIFA 2009, the sets were much looked upon by many as the next generation TV viewing platform that would simply change how we watch TV. But then one would do well to remember that there are many a blockages which come in the way between people and their dream of buying a 3D TV set. The first and most important factor was price. If anything it doesn’t come as a surprise that only the riche people will purchase a 3D TV set while the relatively average income household might still stick to the lesser of options available.

Display Search, a Display Group stated as many as 247 million TV sets were sold worldwide in the year of 2010 itself.. This meant, a good seventeen percent rise when compared with the previous year. One may also look at the global economic slowdown which affected one and all big time at that. In fact while the TV market was still doing well, the sales were drastically lesser then before. In the countries of Europe and Japan, for once things were still reputable. It was in United States that people simply ran away from doing extravagant spending on things they could for once do without.
As far as the manufacturers are concerned, they simply started producing the more expensive and advanced 3D TV sets which would be impossible for the average people to purchase. The manufacturers added, giving 3D and internet connectivity features to the TV sets. These definitely sounded a great prospect. But then again when it came to the price factor people were still worried. While cutting down the prices of TV sets was more like the call of the day. This would also have greatly resulted in the customers going for the TV sets. Eventually as much as 3.2 million 3D TV sets were sold in the year of 2010. This was at best decent and nothing when compared with the enormous units of 3D TV sets manufactured. These simply cost as much as 13 hundred dollars each. Now comparing this with the HD TV sets which are in the taking for as much as less then 300$. There is simply no competition here. This apart, the most important factor to be considered is content, there is simply not much content available either for 3D.
